ESA Foundation Life Grant This grant has been established using the interest earned, after membership dues are paid, from the "Life Active Membership" fund of the ESA Foundation. The Life Grant was established in July 2001 by the ESA Foundation for the purpose of helping those with special needs in three different areas:
Life Active Membership with the ESA Foundation was established in 1995. All fees are placed in a partial-restricted fund, which will be drawn upon at a rate of a yearly dues assessment for each life active member, supporting their annual dues. This fund is a contingency fund for ESA Foundation emergencies should it become necessary. The financial status of the Foundation will be contingent upon how the remainder of the Life Active Fund and its interest will be utilized. It was determined in 2000 that when possible the interest (after dues are deducted) will be utilized to support LIFE GRANTS. Anyone is eligible to apply for a LIFE GRANT that meets the minimum requirements listed below: The objectives of the three specified types of LIFE Grant are: Career Opportunities: This grant would provide monetary assistance to persons of all ages, who seek to further their study/training at a source not usually associated with a college or university in a non-traditional educational setting. Also, to provide opportunities for attending seminars, intern training for skills that will enhance the environment or other community improvements (such as internships with companies working to develop more economic resources for communities). Parent Training: A person must be a new or prospective parent, or someone who is in a guardianship position of a small child, or a parent whose child has been diagnosed with a life-threatening or chronic disease, who needs training. This grant would provide assistance and support to first-time parents or guardians who have had no training in this important task. Provide assistance or training to parents who are confronted with a child with a dangerous or chronic disease (such as parents of diabetics or children with asthma). Training for those "At Risk": To support educational programs, materials, and projects that assists the disadvantaged or individuals at risk in society. This grant is specifically designed to improve the quality of life and reach out to people at risk in our society. This grant could be applied for by an alternate applicant seeking to assist another person (such as a teacher for a student - "at risk." an "at risk" student sent to a special camp for behavior modification, or programs for the homeless, jobless, untrained individuals
