CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING

RACQ Rescue Helicopter Service

RACQ Rescue Helicopter Service

Alpha Rho members from Mackay, Queensland, Australia have been wrapping Christmas gifts in one of the shopping centres for four years. The Caneland Central Shopping Centre supplies all the gift paper, sticky tape and tables to work on.

Alpha Rho members only have to volunteer their time for the month of December. They usually work in pairs so they have some company, but they can get very busy, especially in the week before Christmas.

Customers donate a gold coin to have their gifts wrapped. The members usually start preparing gift tags, bows and ribbons in July or August and sell them to customers to make the gifts extra special.

Each year different organizations are selected to donate the proceeds to. The R.A.C.Q. Rescue Helicopter Service, the Flying Doctor Service and the Mackay Surf Lifesavers’ Club received donations last year.

This is a great promotion for ESA as the members are in the public eye for a month each year. They take the opportunity to hand out brochures and talk, talk, talk about ESA.

Another Branch, Alpha Epsilon started last year with the same promotion in Airlie Beach, a very popular tourist destination, and had great success also.
