IMAGINE...A CLEAN START
Holli Neigel, Hands-On Project Chair
Would you use a half used bottle of someone else shampoo, lotion or deodorant? This happens too often at homeless shelters around the world. The staff has to throw them out so it is useless and a waste for everyone. Let's give women who are down on thier luck, a clean start.
Adopt a homeless shelter. By working with one group, they will get to know you and you will begin to understand and anticipate their needs. It doesn't have to be a large shelter, personally I prefer the small self supporting ones. My chapter supports Hosptality House which houses 9 ladies.
The ladies need all types of products, especially feminine hygiene ones. Buy trial sizes so nothing goes to waste. Put the items in small decorated bags with pretty tissue. You can use brown lunch bags and cut out the pictures from cards you received with flowers or pretty things. Give these ladies something special to brighten their day.
I am a Mary Kay Consultant and I donate product that is currently out of the line. See if you locate a Mary Kay or Avon consultant and see if she would donate. Every month bring an item and create a bag at your meeting.
I love Harlequin Romances and have a million of them. I am going to wrap up a few for each lady and donate to the shelter. Maybe not everyone will read them, but them you never know unless you try.
These are just a few little ways to help a someone make “A CLEAN START.”
